Spot the tile that does not match

One tile in the grid is a slightly different shade from the other eight. Tap it. Six rounds, each one a little harder than the last, scored on how quickly you find the odd tile. Everyone playing today gets the same six boards.

Starting the game…

How to play

  1. Look for the odd shade. Eight tiles share one colour and one does not. The difference is obvious in the first round and subtle by the last.
  2. Tap it. Tapping the odd tile scores the round and moves on. Tapping any other tile scores nothing and still moves on, so guessing costs you the round.
  3. Beat your best. Your best score is kept on this device, and follows your account once you have one.

Scoring

A correct tap is worth 100 points immediately, falling to a floor of 10 over three seconds. A wrong tap scores nothing. The maximum for a six-round run is 600.

A round takes about 45 seconds. Modes: daily, classic. It is free, needs no account, and runs in the browser.

Today’s challenge

The board changes once a day. Every player gets the same board on a given day, on the web and in the apps, because it is generated from a seed derived from the date.

Questions

Does everyone get the same puzzle?
Yes. The daily board comes from a seed derived from the date, so every player on a given day gets the same six rounds on the web and in the apps.
Is there a daily challenge?
Yes — the board changes once a day. Restarting replays today's boards rather than generating new ones, so a run can be practised.
Do I need an account?
No. Progress is saved in your browser immediately, and only moves to an account if you make one.
